  • Graphics card discussion. I'd like some advice!

I play on a potato. Max FPS I get is 40 on the lowest settings I can. For reference, my computer runs on a 255W power supply. Very potato.

As such, I'm looking to upgrade but not break my bank. FFXIV and League of Legends are really the only things I need to run, so I don't need some super powerful mega computer. I do not stream. My whole goal is to run FFXIV at max settings and get close to 60fps. Obviously, I need a new PSU, GPU, and some other bits and bobs, but my main question is which graphics card should I look at? https://19216881.org https://1921681001.link/ https://19216801.digital/

If you run FFXIV on max I'd love to know what kind you have and what your avg framerate is.

    So a few questions.
1 what are you using now. CPU, GPU. ect.
2 what type of budget do you have.
3 Is your current computer a DIY or a prebuilt from an OEM like dell.(if it is you could have issues with getting a PSU.

Based on the system requirements, here is a list of a few possible options.

    Nvidia

    GTX 970
    GTX 1070
    GTX 1660
    GTX 1650 Super

    Radeon

    RX 480
    RX 570
    RX 5500xt

As for a PSU what you need depends on what you get for CPU/GPU. I swear by seasonic PSU's. I have seen several people lose everything from getting a cheep one. I have not had issues with seasonic, they make for themselves and Corsair PSU's. Im guessing that something like the s12III 500 SSR-500GB3 would be just fine for you, but use a calculator. Seasonic has a useful calculator. https://seasonic.com/wattage-calculator

Hello. what do you play on??? "I play on a potato"

If you only wish to upgrade your graphics card along with PSU then go for something like GTX 1660 Super as it will not break your bank or if you wanna upgrade your whole PC I'd suggest look for pre built systems with a good graphics card

First of all you have to upgrade your PSU anyhow as 255watts is very less in 2021 for even a generic PC. Secondly, I believe you could get a used GPU in mining off of eBay or any local site in your area. Some good people do sell mined GPUs at a price of food money lol. Try your luck in that matter. Lastly, if you aren't sure what variant should you get, try going through this best rx 580 article, it is very informative and has enough cards to make a good decision in your mind. Cheers!

The graphics processing unit (GPU), is the main part that does the actual computation, but should not be confused with the video card as a whole, although “GPU” is often used as a metonymic shorthand to refer to video cards.
